Cheers Russ - yep skirts and front respray should make it look even sweeter
The wheels are growing on me now, although I still worry whether the car is bordering on chav, especially when coupled with the tinted fronts and rears... I bought the Golf as it is a "grown up" hot hatch... thats why I was tempted to go back to the original Monza 18's... will wait and see how I feel in a couple of weeks.
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

I don't think its in danger of looking 'chav', to be fair once you have had the skirts etc. sprayed it will basically look like an Ed30 with bigger pescaras!  I think the GTI looks very subtle anyway compared with cars like the CTR for example, thats why I like it, understated.. (nice horse arena by the way, my old dear has one just like it!)

Good point Russ... the alloys are just basically bigger pescara's I think...

As for the horse run, not mine... a neighbours... he also has a couple of goats which delight in jumping over the fences and climbing over anything... don't worry, if they touch my car they will be going to goat heaven pretty sharpish!

Cheers Emeye.... just spent tonight cleaning the leather and then treating with some Liquid Leather... should look great now... next step is some new GTi footmats, spray side skirts and chin spolier, then some washing, claying and waxing to finish off... then a couple of warranty claims (drivers side xenon spray system seems to have a loose cover doesn't sit as flush with the bumper + the release mechnism on the bonnet seems a bit stiff)... I then think i will be truly happy.

As for driving impressions - gotta say i am loving the exhaust note!  Not loving the tappety engine noise at idle though...  shame as it does detract a little... but apparently its "Normal" according to threads on here and the dealers...

Anyone any good with Photoshop?  I am intrigued by the idea of getting the BBS CH alloys anodised black, or a very dark grey... I have seen them fitted to a red audi tt: http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/ttforumbbs/viewtopic.php?t=88510&highlight=&sid=94ec085603ebd1393c2c4be69ed14c7b wouldn't mind seeing a mock-up of what it looked like on my red GTi... intrigued... only really thinking of having them done as the front two alloys have VERY mild kerbing and I want them fixed before any perishing kicks in...

Car now fitted with standard Monza II's - happier now, bit more subtle.
