New Car for a New Member

Anyone got 19 inch BBS alloys (larger version of the ED30 set)?  Just wondered how it affected ride quality when left on the standard springs?  Ideally wouldn't have them, but a car I am looking at next week has them fitted...
Cheers

Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

As far as I remember, there is one guy here whose father has 19 BBS fitted on his Ed.30

Guilty!

Got your message Northerner, but managed to delete it, and then couldn't find the private messaging function on here...is there one?  :undecided:

To be fair, I've only been in the car a few times, but I find the ride perfectly acceptable - hardly any harsher than standard I reckon. Mind you, I'm used to cars with stiff suspension/big wheels, so it depends on your tolerance levels I suppose!

Okay, I'm not really giving a definitive answer here, so let's have a go - in my opinion, the ride quality is NOT compromised with 19's. That any good?

Cheers James   I will be giving it a go today after driving one with normal 17inch alloys... should give me a good comparison!
As an aisde, if I go for the one with 17's - anyone know a good and cheap source for the original 18's??  I just prefer the look of them... fill the arches a bit better...

Well, I test drove two GTi's today, one with standard 17inch Monza, and one with the 19 BBS CK Alloys... the ride is more firm with the 19's but not overly compromised in terms of day to day driving, I found it perfectly acceptable, this was over A road, some stop start in town with speed bumps... so a fair reflection of day to day living with the car.

actually, after driving both I put a deposit down on the one with 19's

Cheers matey, out of the three golfs I viewed in the 14k-16k price range it was the best one..
only issue I have with it is some wear on the leather of the drivers side seat side-bolsters - need to start treating the leather to make it more supple and a bit harder wearing i think.
