Golf GTi MK2 Value

This weekend I'm going to look at a Golf Gti MK2 16V in oak green.It is a 1990 G 'plate' and is totally standard, Big Bumper,BBS Alloys etc.The car has done 122,000 miles to date with no tax, 8 months MOT, recent cambelt fitted + clutch with full FSH.  What price should I be looking to pay?

not sure on price but if u look under the for sale section i no there have been a fair few oak green cars in there, might give u an idea, i no there normally preety pricey due to the colour

To be honest, I would not pay a massive premium for this car. Although desirable you are looking at a 14 year car. If its mint with massive history still pay no more than ?2k.

when i was looking at 16v's i looked at about 6 in total and all the big bumper BBS models had ragged engines and were tatty, and if they were good ones they were about 3 to 4 grand! apparently a lot of these were given out as company cars when they were released hence huge mileage on some.

have a look at some with small bumpers and no alloys cos they seem to be better looked after and less ragged. you can always put the bumpers and alloys on later ;D

What he is saying is that the later spec models where a favourite with fleet purchases, this coincided with the BBS 15 inch wheels being standard, so it has a lot to do with the engine and mileage.

You come on here and slag off people who are giving you genuine advise about cars of that era, and you slag them off. If you are going to be like that I hope you go and buy an overpriced sh1tter! Tw@t >:(
