G60 Head Bolts
« on: 13 June 2007, 19:49 »
Can you re-use the geadbolts from the mk2 G60 engine? Someone told me they are "race spec bolts" and so they dont need replacing like regular stretch bolts do.

Any help would be great! Cheers

Also, Hi!! First post and all!!

depends if its a 1H (rallye) or PG (golf/'raddo) engine.

pg bolts are easy to get hold of, about a quid each + vat (same as 8v gti i think?)  part # 050 103 384
1h are larger diameter and longer.. and discontinued by vag, part # 037 103 384 B .. but you can modify 1.9TDi bolts to fit (same thread)

or get some ARP bolts

its the rallye engine so the TDi bolts look like the right solution!

So the 1H bolts are stretch bolts?

What modification is needed? Just shortening?

Many thanks! Also just realised this post may have been better in the Garage forum section place!

shortening and a slight mod to the bolt collar, you'll see what needs to be done when you compare the new bolts to your old ones.
