REAR BRAKE BAIS VALVE HELP NEEDED
« on: 12 June 2007, 18:18 »
Hi all.

i know i am leaving myself open to look a complete spanner here but what the hay...

i have an 87 8v golf and i have just fitted a set of koni adjustables. they were an ebay bargain and i am unsure on how much lower they are but their fitment has affected the bias valve.  i had a look at the handy guide on here and attempted to adjust.  as suggested on really low cars i removed and stretched the spring. the problem i have is the odd shaped clip the spring sits on fell down a stupidly positioned drain...

given this car is track only and will never carry passengers or load, does the spring necessarily need to be in place? looking at the valve when the car is on the ground the valve is fully closed(ie the 2 bits of the bias valve are as far apart as they can be). in my simple brain this should equate to no scary sideways action.

or am i dangerously off the mark here?

sorry if this is covered elsewhere - i did have a good look.

cheers, dave

actually no you're correct now I think about it, you'll be fine without sorry
You'll want to replace it at some point because if its sat without moving for a while its likely to sieze up :)
