FSI Engine ' Tappity ' ?

Hi all
does anyone alse have a ' tappity ' engine on idle ...?
sounds fine when on the move, hoping that i don't have a problem and that this a characteristic of the engine ( although not a nice one ! )

yup, mines a bit more tappity than i would like.
So are the other 3 I have had a chance to listen to, but as you say, soon goes when on the move.

It's normal, also irrespective of exhaust system.

I think it's injector noise you can hear, the fuel system run's at massive pressure compared to lesser cars.

mines been like that since day 1 and someone on here said it reminds them of the an old ford engine which sounded like that. My dealer said its normal.

They make a much sweeter noise at the other end of the rev range... so I'm told?!

The smallest touch to the throttle and any tappet noise soon is gone
lol, someone once said "is it a diesel?" when it was at idle. They wont be coming in it again.
IMHO GTI sounds much better on the far side of 5000 rpm than both the VXR and Megane Renault Sport. After giving it large in first gear and then in to second with your foot off throttle, turbo makes quite a nice "de-spooling" noise too

Yup - they all do that. Was a little strange at first as I had a GT TDI before. So was like mmmmmmmm?
