it was dark by the time I was home from work.. and i still had to get em fit... so you'll have to wait for daylight pics!

... compare with my sig pic

No offence mate, but I think the Mk3 looks far classier with the standard indicators/fogs. You just about get away with it having a black example, but I suspect they'd look pretty poo on any other colour. But then again, ronnied up Golfs are one of my own personal pet peeves (It looks so good as it is, why on earth would you change it?), so that may be swaying my opinion slightly. And don't even get me started on twin/Mk4 headlamp conversions. Ever wonder why VW didn't design the Mk3 with twin headlamps? Because they don't look very good at all.

i agree about the twin headlights thing, but mk4 style ones are ok if done quite well...

smoked/indicators are fogs are much better.. i've seen them on a blue anniversary car (they come as standard on those) and it looks brilliant.

Just out of interest, is it possible to get just a clear fog light lens from a VW dealer or will they try and sell me the whole lighting unit? A couple of stones decided to go through the front of my offside front fog, so the lens is buggered, but the bulb was untouched so the light still works fine.

right been back to the parts dept. next door..

the part number you gave me black_gti is for the smoked, indicator housing not just the bulb holder, i'm guessing it came with the right ones?

the confusion is the language the etka uses

a bulb holder for orange indicators holds a white bulb  - doh!
a bulb holder for smoked indicators holds an orange bulb - in etka speak smoked is 'dimmed'

the right part number (i hope) is.... 1HO 953 123 F

All I bought were the smoked covers.

The indicator unit was a "unit" and included a bulb holder. ?25 each (approx) and bulb

The blanking plate, was just a smoked blanking plate

The Smoked fog was JUST a cover... everything else was already there...u only need the FULL unit if u dont have fogs...

really!.. the kit i got came with full smoked fogs.. didn't know there was a cover.

so you have a plastic cover over your clear fogs?

whereas i'll have fully glass smoked ones

sounds like the rest will match though.

???

U cant see the fog unit...

All there is is a grey block in the back (which I penned black with a permanent marker cos i didnt realise it wasnt visible)

Theres the big round lense and the cover that sits over it all... a full fog unit costs ?100+ each

U just need the cover.
