Mk 5 TV ad
« on: 12 February 2004, 09:15 »
Has anyone seen the new tv ad for the Mk 5? Quite clever again and takes a few viewings to pick up on everything. The final shot is quite good where the shot flics through all the mks and ends up with the mk 5.

The background to the ad focuses upon the knowledge, experience and attention that have been invested within the vehicle since its inception in 1974, exactly 30 years ago.

This is shown through the eyes of a young German engineer, Rudi Bause, beginning his first day of work in Wolfsburg, and so begins a dramatic journey through the history and evolution of the Golf to the present day.

These changes are mirrored and amplified as we see Rudi gradually age throughout his life, along with a myriad of different changes within the environment in which he is couched.

P.S. I have seen the ad but the info. about the ad I picked up from another VW website!!

I think my favourite Golf ad has to be the one that was shown when the 25th Anniversary edition of the Golf was launched.

It started off a guy driving a black Mk 1, and the car ands his surroundings kept morphing until it was a Mk4 GTi Anni edition. Itt finished with him pulling up and looking at a mint black Mk1 (that was actually the car he was driving at the beginning of the ad).

Very clever watching the backgrounds changing between era's, eeing people in the fashions of the time, advertised movies etc! Very cool ad.

The greatest leveller of them all - the Carousel

What time does the ad come on? The last few evenings I've been waiting with great delight to see the ad but keep missing it.

With such unique product VW marketing gurus will always bring out the best ad.

My fave was the Mk 4 polo ad, that said at the end "Have you ever noticed how protedted you feel when you make yourself small?".

The first time I saw it, was shortly after writing off my mk4...I cried.

Its a good ad, but I agree its not as good as the last ad for the 25th anniversary.
