0-60 & top speed - Mkv gti dsg

Hi all,

Only me second post, still waiting on response to first re wind noise at 80 mph along side of car?    Anyways, I have a laser blue Golf mkv gti dsg on an 05 plate with all the toys (minus leather) 23k miles on the clock.

I was wondering if any one could conifrm what the actual 0-60 time of the golf gti with dsg is, not the brochure time as this I have beaten on numerous occassions. I have heard 0-60 is capable in 6.5 secs and top speed of over 150mph? I also have heard there is a software upgrade that enables the highline computer to show 0-60, 0-90 etc? Anyone got this and if so any good? 

Would be interested to hear what others are achieving.

VW driver magazine do full roadtests and acheived the following:-

0-50               4.7
0-60               6.3
0-70               8.2
0-80               10.7
30-50(in third)  2.3
50-70(in third)  3.4
Max speed       145 mph

Manual version is slower than DSG and thats fact, nice to see another person with laser blue!! cant believe the numbers of new members coming in with them lately!!, soon we will take over the world!!!!!.

What we need are some willing volunteers who are going to the GTI International show to go down the quarter mile and post their times on here. Sort of an official GolfGTI.co.uk reference to 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Both standard and modified versions of GTI, TDI, ED30, R32, FSI etc. The more the merrier.

Autocar a couple of weeks ago ran a test - DSG vs Manual.  They concluded that the manual was faster and pulled harder from stand still - this was after numerous runs apparently.  Maybe they had a dodgy DSG?! 

Both cars are 5 stars so pay ur money and take ur choice.

I bet they weren't using the infamous launch control, if you go to you tube and put in golf dsg v manual, there's a comprehensive test where the DSG out performs the manual in every aspect but only because they use this launch control thingy? Either way both dsg or manual, the car is a true GTI!!!

Thats what i'm suspecting... otherwise i'll change my Edition 30 order back to manual asap.
