Door autolocking when driving
« on: 01 June 2007, 09:23 »
Hi all!

Sorry for the stupid question but can you enable the door autolock when driving function via the highline computer or do I have to take it back to the stealer?

It's something I'd like to have enabled for when my missus is driving the car on her own.

Cheers
John

Yes you can. Just go into the highline comp with the ignition switched on.  Select convenience mode then door locks, then enable the functions.  Sorry but I can't remember each function off the top of my head, but I'm sure the first one enables you to just unlock the drivers door by one press of the remote, two presses opening the rest. The other functions enable the anti-hijack facility. This function locks the doors automatically when you drive off and then unlocks the doors once you stop the engine and remove the keys. TBH I have all three enabled all the time and find it very useful. You can still unlock the doors manually by pressing the unlock switch on the drivers door at any time. It also tells you how to do it in the owners manual - 3.1. Hope this clears things up for you.

Yes you're right TT, you can enable or disable each of the functions. I think its known as anti-hijack because it keeps the doors locked once you go above 15km or so until you stop and remove the keys. If you enable the single door unlock, then when you remove the keys it will only unlock the drivers door. You have to get out the car  and it saves you having to pull the door handle twice. If you want all the doors to unlock once you take the keys out, then disable the single door opening feature.  Personally, I have the auto lock and unlock facility enabled all the time as I find it extremely useful.   :smug:

Are you quite sure on that bit??

On my RS4, I had to get the stealer to completely disable the "anti-hijack" facility, as they couldn't work out how to separate the auto locking from the auto unlocking.  :undecided:  Same on my last S4.  They gave me some bollox about Audis being different to VeeDubs!!

Tried it again.  With the highline set to single door opening, the auto unlock unlocks the whole car - useless!

Our car locks at 40km/hour and thats it.

It does not unlock when you take the keys out. Looked in the highline a while ago and could not even find the option.

Picked up my new Gti on Saturday and stealer set up the auto-door lock for me( basic computer only).Locks at 15 km/hr and opens when car is stopped and keys out of ignition and can also be overridden by the switch on drivers door at any time.
