Had my car parked at college today as usual, parked up at 9am ... finished college at four and was left to find my car keyed along both sides (and i mean from the headlight to tail light) and and two big dents in the drivers door 

As mentioned in another thread she is pretty faded so i was hoping to get a respray after i have worked during the summer. thing is they have keyed a good 1-2mm thick so im obviously going to have to get a full re-spray .... I know prices will vary but if i was to do all the prep work how much am i looking at roughly? Just need to know how hard i need to work over the summer ...

Find out who did it, and then key there face!

If you did all the prep work on your car, you would be looking at £600 upwards for a respray, dependant on quality, paint used and, of course, access to 'mates rates'

most spray shops hate pre-prepped cars as they are not generally finished to paint ready standard.
i just had a quote for both doors and rear 1/4's on mine with me removing arches and lights etc - £650.
I imagine you would be in the £1500 - £2500 area.
But try and find out who keyed yours and make them pay for it... or follow them home and burn down their house while they're asleep

jus dnt burn the house down after u jus pulled up in yer golf  not tryin to promote violence just justice. i know how u feel thoe, i had a glass bottle trown at me buy a chav from about a foot away cause he was pissed in the middle of the road, i got quoted 2000 plus vat for a respray on my car (same colour) plus a few mods

pikey barstewards! someone keyed my old rover (now my brothers car) on christmas eve, keyed the word "C U Next Tuesday" in the bonnet, on a black car so stuck out like a sore thumb.

I'd ask if the college has CCTV?

hey guys thanks for the replies,

went to the front desk of the college (would have got more of a response from a brick wall) they said there isnt cctv over the car park ... ummm wtf? and that there is a sign saying the college insn responsible for any loss or damage to property in the car park.

My dad's mate used to be a mechanic so he said he'd sort me out ... but i need to buy the paint and prepare the car for the full respray 

Just have a quick question,

my car is down as having LA3G - Classic Red but all of the other red golfs i have seen have LY3D - Tornado Red ... how come mine is different? She is a 1990 Golf Driver ... just wondering if it the GTI's that got sprayed Tornado Red?
