ello every 1, just lowered me golf gti 1.8 20v (non turbo), did it meself today(what a bummer) got some ventura springs from europarts(40mm drop) back ones easy jack it up wheels off drop the shock (2 bolts!) spring out, new 1 in, shock back on easy! front ones what a twit! took ages to get strut from front hub carrier but once out easy using spring compressors etc, the car drove 100% better now feels like it corners on rails! couldnt lower any more, europarts offered some with 70mm drop but got mrs and 3 kids so not practical!, took it to garage and got tracking done for ?25, then low and behold in local paper a set of wheels for a mk4 golf!, bought them for ?350 fox 1 evos in mint condition with toyo tyres with 7 mm tread plus! even better that they were off a 1.8 turbo(sold due to upgrade to 19") wheels bob on have totally transformed the car and its handeling along with new springs.

Got a sony cd changer and interface from mcs direct for ?136 fitted that on monday in 1st aid compartment and run wires under carpet to gamma head unit had to get some special tools from halfords for ?3 to extract gamma but worth every penny all works spot on even now lowered car no cd jumps etc( changer jst held in with bungee starp in 1st aid compartment).

Have got a spoiler out of europarts tunig catalogue, ?58 looks well ready primed but just been quoted ?180 to get painted and fitted(ouch!) so may shop around!.

Im on a buget and cant afford 19" wheels etc and all that but all the bits ive done this week have cost me only ?600 and i think its trans formed the car no end!

hers a list of what ive bought and how much bits were:

ventura lowering springs (40mm drop) ?61.25
fox 1 evo wheels with toyo tyres ?350 (second hand but mint)
sony cdx t69 6 disc changer+interface to fit gamma?136
boot spoiler ?58

springs and spoiler from europarts,
cd changer from mcs direct
wheels (from private seller)

spoiler not painted and fitted yet but will be once shopped around!

So if theres any mk4 owers who want to spruce uo there golfs it can be done on a buget!

will post some pics of before and after shots when got meself a digicam!( next paypacket allowing! lol!)

hope this is of intrest to any mk4 owners who havent got thousands to spend! ( i would have spent alot more but mortgage ,kids, etc and mrs wont allow!)

next thing is an exhuast system and air filter, just got tthis months performance vw mag got a free c+r catalogue, some nice bits in there k+n57i ?72, jetex exhaust system from cat back with 2x80mm round pipes ?233, not sure bowt exhaust yet done want one too loud! any ideas? want a bit more beef but not too much!, also seen a cat replacement pipe in there for ?100 but its a weld on type if any one knows any thing about these please let me know as the weld on bit is putting me off a bit!, what sort of gains can i expect with a 57i and a system with det cat? let me know if any of ya out there have any ideas? i know its not the quickest golf out there its onbly 125bhp standard but how much could i squeeze out with them bits? sorry to waffle on but any help im really gratefull for!

Look forward to seeing it finsihed. Recently got a mk4 1.8 non turbo myself so very interested in eventual moding it up. Wheels and spolier top of list at mo then into the engine bay i thinks. Personaly i think the 1.8t wheels are prob best suited looking wheels.
