Sorry to hi-jack, but if the car originally did not have side repeaters, then it should never need them as long as it is within the years specified. I think the MOT station did not know this and I would have challenged this with the ministry if transport. I did this once regarding a rear fog lamp amongst other things on a Q plate South African import. It went in my favour. Worth persuing if you think you are right, especially if it has passed MOT's for the last 18 years without the repeaters.

It originally had side repeaters and did in the last wing, and passed teh last time with the badges in place of the side repeaters, but these new G60 wings never had side repeater holes for some reason!

Got the new wider 2" radinox stainless lips and 205/45x15 tyres the same as the rears, so as had to rebuild them, decided on a colour change of the baskets! Had to buy a set of new stainless bolts, as one was knackered and a few were quite marked. Tried everywhere, but couldn't find any the same, so had to buy a new set!

With white cap:

With silver cap:

Outside ready to get the excess sealant off around the bolts:

Found the ideal thing to do this was wooden cocktail sticks!:

March '09.
Well, now have the major expense of a gearbox rebuild!  :(  Had a noise that started after 15 minutes or so of driving-sounded a bit like the noise you get when you need a surpressor on your stereo! Also couldn't find the gears twice and there were spots of oil flicked up on the underside of the bonnet. Turned out that the diff bearings have had it and the oil was being flicked up when the drive shafts join-of course because of that the gearbox oil was low.

So the gearbox is being rebuilt and having a new clutch & clutch cable (the bite point was high anyway so on it's way out) + am getting the flywheel lightened. Also needs a needs a new rear wheel bearing.

After that stuff is done, I then need to sort out what's up with the Alpine head-unit or Audison amp, as first there was no sound coming from the speakers connected to the amp (but the amp seemed fine), the the head-unit wouldn't switch on!

Will be glad so have everything sorted!
Yeah will dig them out and scan them in for you. Contmeplating getting a cheap bug as a project again actually. Would do it much more in keeping with "the german folks" look this time though.
Yeah, I kinda wished that I'd done mine more that way now, as the custom bits ending up costing so much and took so long that that is the reason why it hasn't been on the road! If I'd kept in more standard, but with different wheels, engine and lowered etc, it would have cost about 1/3 to 1/2 what it has done and I would have been enjoying it on the road!

Here's the lightened flywheel:

Gearbox pics coming soon!

Won best water-cooled at Stanstead VW show back in April:

My boot all done. Custom-made Audioscape style sub-box with Hertz 10" sub. Had to be custom-made as I have 7"x5" Hertz speakers in place of the original 6"x4" speakers, so as the larger 7"x5" 's hit the top of the previous Audioscape sub-box, I got a custom-made one made by Ken (Trouble-starter on here).

With the new boot-light on:
