Phone Mic
« on: 28 May 2007, 22:16 »
Hopefully someone will be able to answer this question.

My car had the telephone prep fitted when I bought it and I got the dealer to throw in the appropriate cradle as part of the deal.

I have just been given a new work phone which VW don't make a cradle for.

I've been googling and found that a Parrot CK3000 Bluetooth kit and a steering wheel interface kit can be fitted so the phone can be operated by the MFSW. The steering wheel interface kit removes the need for the remote button of the Parrot system.

What I want to know is can the VW mic which is already in the car be used with the Parrot system, or would I have to install the Parrot mic?

Thanks

In theory, yes, assuming that the mic lead has the same bayonet type connector as the Parrot kit. You will need to remove it to check.

I am also going down the Parrot CK3000 bluetooth route to utilise the MTSW button and have have purchased a Quick Connect wiring adaptor from the US. I will be doing the install when the weather dries up - probably in September given the current weather

Install article here:

Quick Connect link here:

email them at and ask for Howard - very quick and professional response:

That looks like the link I found.

Don't spose you know where the current mic connects in the phone prep kit to save me ripping the car apart?  If not, then I might just get both kits and find out when I install them.

I did pop into the dealers today as I was passing to ask if any of the other cradles would fit my phone but no joy.

Sorry, no idea about the factory install. The Doc might be able to help or Blowers who had a similar phone/cradle issue.

Yeah, the mic is up by the interior light. I was wondering where the other end of the mic lead goes?!

Looks like Parrot have released a kit to enable phone control via MFSW:

Parrot Multican at £49.95 is significantly cheaper than US sourced Quick Connect kit (plug and play VW 2 lead set) at approx $174 + $34 shipping + UK tax of approx £20

Never mind, I'm sure they will do the same job and can be done as a simple DIY install.
