Quick questions guys... I'm a bit - very naive - when it comes to driving so I am wondering whether Tim Needall (is that his name - the guy who is driving that car on the 5th Gear clip) is driving the Edition 30 with DSG or manual... can you drive the DSG like that.  I have ordered a DSG you see and am definetly keeping it for life and will be taking it to the occasional track day.  Thing is I am wondering whether DSG inhibits that kind of driving and manual complements it or is that bs?

Thanks Teddy... I wonder if it is easy to drive the car like that with a DSG gearbox.....?  Anyone - because as I said, I haaven't a clue about driving.

as its fwd, i would have thought its just a lot of speed into the corner, stearing in quicker and then using the exceleration right to keep it on the edge.. not rwd so its gonna be harder!! haha

Thats a good question - you can be in control of the gears via the paddle shift, so maybe it can be done?

Easy peasy,

High speed into the cornerl, lift off the accellerator and back on again as soon as you can. The tail flicks out through the inertia of the rear end and then hold it for as long as it will let you with a dose of opposite lock and then power out of the corner when the rear end bites. You have to be awake when the rear end bites as you can end up in a hedge backward if you don't catch it right (pendulum effect)

I think I'm all too familiar with the pendulum effect  :embarassed: :embarassed:  Cost me a new set of alloys when I span out of control on a slippery roundabout in a VR6 2 years back... I thought it would have taken the bend, but I had been driving a mint Mk1 GTI before that and naively thought it would be the same as the Mk1  :undecided:
