New GTI or older r32
« on: 26 May 2007, 05:22 »
Quick question i was looking at the new GTIs and they got 200 hp and for a nice loaded one im looking at 28k. Then i looked at the r32s like a 2004 they got 250 hp and im only looking at 25k. So my question is this is it worthe buying the brand new one, would take much to make it as fast as the 2004 r32 or should i just get the r32?

You could just buy an Edition 30 (if you can find one), then you wouldn't have to do anything to get R32 pace!

I thought the R32 didn't come in until after 04?

S'pose it depends what you want, R32 has always been a none starter for me as I am a miser when it comes to buying fuel. But I guess even the most finely fettled 2.0t won't have the superb noise of the 6cyl

28k seems like a lot to spend on a new GTi - I thought you only ticked all the boxes if you needed to launder cash or her indoors wasn't watching

I think they are both extremely nice cars but iv never driven an R32 so i cant really say much! But im sure you will be more than happy with your GTI! Im guessing its an MK4 R32 aswell? You might want to consider stuff such as factory guarantee and stuff?

depends, id go for one with my toys on it, high spec GTI then low spec R32, but if the R32 has shed loads od extras, then go for that, one thing though, prepare for higher fuel usage, much higher road tax,and insurance group is 18 and not 17 as the Standard Gti. The golf Gti is better if you add more to it, if it has sat Nav , leather , xeon lights, luxery pack etc or if your a family man and have kids, a 5 door is essential, then get the Gti.
hope this helps in such a important financial decision.
