Wiring Looms on my golf mk3

Please help-
Electric Window problem.
I have pulled away the rubber cover which surround the wiring looms which go from the door into the body of the car for my electric windows.
I then noticed some of the cables had snapped.
Anyway..I temporarly merged them back together expecting them to work..but no joy..
There is like a tube looking thing which forms part of these wires and when i went to close the doors i heard this air type sound. I disconnected the loom from door and noticed the air comes from the plug built into the door.
seems like it pushes air down this pipe somewhere into electric window..
any ideas whats wrong..? My car would not close up by pressing the alarm button on key fob now.
I had to manually close and soon as i pushed the inside knob down on that door..that noise happened again.lasts about 1min then goes

sounds to me like your central locking pipes
check your boot, the same side as the drivers, where the lights are, there should be the central locking pump
is this chugging away?

i should be more specific..
5 door model
The door in question is the rear door on drivers side on
The noise is definetly coming from that door.
you can pull the connection away from body of car and feel the air beng pumped out of hole where pipe goes.
