Gonna Miss Her..
« on: 24 May 2007, 12:19 »
Well tonight the SpearMint machine will be gone to a new owner (also a vwdubber).. been driving her all day and know i'm gonna really regret getting rid of her but I just can't afford to run her as a student and realistically she'll have a much better life with her new owner (a lady) who works full time and loves the Vdub scene..

I've recommended her to this forum so if you see her again.. make sure she looks after her! :D

(i'm also staying VW (gettin a '73 beetle)

I did a part exchange for a '73 1200A Bug + I got £300 cash on top of it :D

Here's some photos:

'73 (manufactured '72 so tax excempt) - previous owner just put 12 months tax on as she didnt realise it was tax excempt.. have just contacted DVLA and will be getting the 12 months refunded to me :D - HIC gave me a refund of £172 on my policy for changing to the bug with only 6 months left on the policy! (mot till february 08)

It has: Front Leather Recaro seats in great nick - fully adjustable, with a custom rear bench, 1200cc (1200A) engine with a QuickShifter, not quite sure what it is but it's got an aftermarket gearbox as well (about 5 years old), spray job in two tone Purple/Sea Blue. Lowered by 1 spline on the back with adjustable beams all round and deepdish chrome 8J alloys. Pre '67 early wings with US Spec sloping headlights.

Drives FANTASTICALLY! (also recently had a brand new carb fitted) SO SO much fun, fallen in love all over again!

Yeh good swap :)

Although today I found that i've got abit of rust that needs attending to on the LHS sills!

Had the whole chassis off today, rubbed everything down on the floorpan / underneith and treated it all, then coated it all, put the shell back on, refitted the seats and carpet and getting the welding done tomorrow :D

And i've just got hold of a 1600 TwinPort engine for her which i'm gonna pick up tomorrow and rebuild :)

(as for the Golf no unfortunately not, she's now in Northampton (the girl who now owns her lives 3 minutes drive from SantaPod!)
