Bearing in mnd the cars only three months old, but the paintwork has never felt that smooth, now I know why.

Then finished off with some Gold Class

Creep, always fancied claying mine but am a bit scared too!!  Was it easy to do and is there any danger of damaging the paintwork :undecided:

No mate, it's easy, just make sure your cars JUST washed and dry, if you buy a kit like the Meguires, it will contain the clay bar and a lubricant, spary the lube over a managable area first, say a third of your bonnet, then warm the clay in your hands, so it softens up, then gently press onto the paint serface and slowly rub up and down the lubricated area, pretty soon the clay will flatten to the bonnet serface and stat to pick up crud, have the spray bottle of lube in your other hand, so if you feel the bar dragging, you can spray some more.

This will leave a milky film all over the paint work, so you will need to wash the car again, then leather off and rewax straight away

I did mine with that clay stuff to get the tree sap off, worked a treat, but hard work.  then I found this turtle wax, wax & polish stuff which was much easier and just as good.

The trouble with any polish is that by it's very nature it's abrasive, where a clay bar isn't and uses a lifting action.

Each to their own, but using a clay bar is no harder that waxing IMO

Interesting. I too have found tree sap very hard to lodge this year. Never noticed it before...

I'm sure the clay bar in better, but for little individual bits, the turtle wax does the trick.

we have these horrible lime trees in west london and they make little purlple patches on the pearlesent black.  when I first had this problem, someone on here recommended the clay bar and Im glad they did!

seagulls down here carry shedloads of bombing material down here, but have a crafty nack of doing it only after the cars just been washed and polished

Am starting to think they particularly target blue as they believe its  its either the sky to sea. I have never had a car which attracts the bird poo as much as this one!
