The missus let slip that she has organised a track day for me for my forthcoming Birthday, she thought I would enjoy seeing what my car can actually do!

Question is, would you take you new Ed30 on a trackday?

I have looked into xtra insurance which will probably cost me about £230 for the day and I was thinking of getting the service and maint schedule from VW to cover consumables !! (brake pads, tyres!)

Its a full day down at Castle Combe so should be well organised, but what are your thoughts?  Must admit I would love to see what I can get out of the car without normal road restrictions

To want to do a track day - no.
To do it in your everyday expensive car - yes IMO.
The latter is ok if you have uprated brakes and not too worried if you stuff it / hammer the
sh!t out it.
If you do go make sure it is properly organised and not full of young idiots with something to prove (like a hot hatch day) and you would thoroughly enjoy it - your brakes won't though!!!!

I'm off to Thurxton for a track day next week too, cant wait.

Couldnt never bring myself to use my own car tho. The only track I would do that on is the ring.

I would go for it. Just as long as you have good insurance and its well organised then yeah. I would love to take our car for a spin on a race track.

check your warranty fineprint. not sure if it still applies to vw today, but warranties generally cover general road use only.

thought about it..... but the thought of regretting it is too much for me. You'll always want to push it that little be more and then.... Oops, spin, spin, curb, kitty litter tyre wall!

Yeah, thought about all the reasons not to, but thought (f**k it am off to Iraq in Jan and you only live once!  )

Going to sort the insurance and go for it, will take lots of pics and give an update after the event

i have always wanted too, but being 23 the insurance want a load so havnt ever done it. im sure it would be a great experience!!
