black trim treatment
« on: 18 May 2007, 13:52 »
I've experimented (on my wife's KA!) with a few exterior trim/bumper treatments for the black bumper trim and sills and despite what they might say they all leave a sheen or gloss finish.
I want one which protects but leaves the matt finish the car comes with as new.
I had some old Halfords exterior trim silicone which was perfect but they don't seem to do it any longer.
Any suggestions anyone?
On a similar subject although the car's only a couple of months old the black rubber window surround (2 door) is already looking a little weathered.  Any suggestions as to how to remedy / protect.
Cheers

I bought a spray can of Hal fords own silicon spray, it for lubricating plastic and rubber parts TBH, but if I apply it with a clean wax applicator pad, lasts a couple of weeks.

I prefer Autoglym Bumper Care - use it on the unpainted lower trim and mudflaps. It is specifically for exterior plastics and rubber. Has a green slime like consistency  but smells nice. Put on sparingly with a cloth. Cleans, darkens and protects with a satin finish. Very good and recommended.
