New Member, New (to me) Car Hello
« on: 17 May 2007, 02:59 »
Hi,

The wife has been nagging me for ages to get her a Golf,  So Saturday I finally gave way and picked up a P reg MkIII 2.0l 16V GTI  in Dragon Green,  very tidy (two small patches that are being dealt with tomorrow/today what time is it?) Thought that i best register on a forum and see whats what really.  my head is normally under my classic mini bonnet but i am sure there will be times when it will have to venture under this one.

Hi to all

Dan

Nah the mini is my fun car for weekends,

1440cc enginer
Race cam
Ported and flowed head
hiff 44 Carb (carbs...lost on most GTI peeps, lol)
Stripped out interior

From the off it will piss on the VW (runs out of legs though at about 65ish  0-60 is only 6.5), which in turn urinates on the Seat Toledo (daily driver and tow vehicle)

The VW is a nice though, but I think it needs some work on it, the more I drive it I think the spring or shocks have gone/going as it bump steers and tramlines really really badly, for standard tyres 205/55 R15's it shouldn't happen.  Sadly something that I didn't notice on the test drive, I wasn't local so he directed and i think he chose roads that flattered the suspsension.  Live and learn.
