dont no if this is the same on all golfs
something i found out lol. i had water in my foot wells for ages and thought it was the seals or drain hols ect i almost had the windscreen out in case it was that lol ,it only leaked when the car was flat or leaning to the right. so i decided to get the hose out on a sunny day and start at the back and work my way to the front only to find when the water whent in over the bonet i had water in my foot well again.after poping the bonet and using the hose again i found out that under the windscreen on the drivers side there is a box of some sort lol dont no what its caled lol
after inspection and some more water i reallised that the water was getting in under it so out it came and to my shock the mounting bracket which holds the (box) was only stuck on whth some thing like tape and after the years it had come unstuck and the water was just running in three and down to my foot well. because there is not much of a fall from there to the drain hole in heavy rain it was backing up and going in so with a little mastic and silicone just to fix it back down i no longer have the leak. i was shocked to see that vw only stuck the (box) there, hope this helps some one
no one has touched it as the car has been in the falily from new
