hmm ok.. i tried fitting this at lunchtime...

and.. there was already a #36.. in position 9.. easily recognisable from the diagram above as position 10 contains "bridge for fog light" which sticks out a mile..

so... first off.. yeah I rushed in and bought one without even looking at the car.. and i'd have still ended up in this position anyways.. as i would have assumed the existing one didn't work

question is... why doesnt it work?

looking back through other suggestions in this post.... its not the switch.. my interior light does work when the door is opened..

I had a problem with the buzzer and I never found the fault really, but had a problem with the headunit and had to wire it permanent live. After doing that the buzzer worked again! :undecided:

hmm..  well i just realised twos things.. 1 of these you can help with len :)

is your #36 relay just a regular black cube?  the ones i see in pictures (from mk2s though) are numbered 188, are much taller and have a grill like you'd expect something that has noise coming out of it to have..

second thing.. the only other 'lectrical thing thats never worked on my car is the cigarette lighter socket.. i just found a "how to fix" thing on vwvortex... basically theres an extra fuse hidden up out of the way in the fuse box away from where all the other fuses are.. so i'm gonna check that one out too

wonder if theres a way to hook the relay up to a bench power supply to make it buzz

oh and VW part number is.. 3A0 951 307

My ciggie lighter kinda works - it will get hot but I have to hold it in! Guess that means I need a new plug in bit!

So what do you want me to look at 'Seer? This 36 relay?
