There has been a championship recently created for mk2 golfs... the engine has to stay standard and they tyres have to be a certain make... ill see if i can find the thread

http://www.golfgtiracing.co.uk/

A summary of the regulations is given below.

* 2 classes – 8 and 16 valve.
* Standard engines, with control camshafts.
* Exhausts free from manifold back.
* Spring and damper rates free.
* No changes to any suspension mounts allowed.
* Bolt in cage only.
* Control tyres.
* Minimum weights for both classes.

should be a good way to enter into car racing and quite cheap i would expect also
Mk3 Golf Gti:Full Milltek system and Decat,K&N filter,mk2 Cam,-1.5 degree camber shims, borbet a's, toyo proxies,hot tuning coils, brembo vented discs, greenstuff pads...Soon to have Eaton Power

mk3 16v 5dr Gti,mintex extreme pads,drilled/grooved discs,lowered,cat back powerflow system,omp panel filter with modified airbox,debadged grill, started prep for spraying, lots to come :D

www.vwdrc.com

 cost around 70 for license and membership then 135 quid pre race meet x 7
so just over 1000 a year before petrol, food and whatever you break :lipsrsealed:

 so long as you dont go over 12 seconds you wont need a roll cage
just need a helmet, single layer fire suit some yellow tape on the battery negative insulation tape covering battery +  and your done :grin:
