Quick alarm based question

hi guys. just back from a short break and need to sort insurance. Anyone know the Thatcham category of the GTI's alarm and immobiliser??

I think its a CAT 1, will check in the brochure!

Thanks Paul. i think the immobiliser is CAT 2 and the alarm CAT 1 but not sure!

VW GTI Mk 5 is towards the bottom of the doc, this points to it being CAT 1 mate

Cheers Paul. In the end I think Sainsburys were happy with standard fit but confused.com was a bit picky.

Excellent prices at Sainsburys for car insurance at the moment too, if anyone is interested.

I can vouch for that.  Approx £160 cheaper than my renewal price via Tesco. 
As you can gather, I changed to Sainsburys.

Well I got it for £590 (GTi), 26yr old, inc legal cover, 11k miles pa inc 1k business, 8 yr protected no claims, but I have 8 points to declare and some c0ck drove into my old MR2 last year so have to put that down too. My renewal was £800.

By the way, use www.confused.com.  I found they get you cheaper prices than if you go direct to the like of sainsburys. Never noticed it before but tis true at the moment. i shopped around LOTS and couldn't beat confused.

Also, i've found you get the best prices if you shop round as early as possible, normally 4 weeks prior to renewal. Just save the prices so you can come back. My policy went up £50 in 2 weeks but you can accept the lower saved price. Which is nice.

Just did a quote with Sainsbury on my ED30, £370 but that went up to £400 with protected NCD.  I am an old git though (39) and have no points (never been caught!! )

Will look into confused for a quote and see if tis better
