BBS Alloys

Hi New Member Here

I have just bought my first MK2 1990 "H" GTI 8v and absolutely love it, I was looking for information on what are the original alloys for same, I believe they are BBS alloys but there are so many different ones, I am looking for the original ones that would have been on the car when first bought, the car is totally standard apart from this so if anyone has a picture of them, It would be much appreciated, I will forward my email address if need be

iirc the 8v model in 1990 would of had steel wheels as standard, with the BBS RA (as linked by Dubby) being an optional extra...

Mine is a G plate 8V- came on 14" steels as standard (still have the delivery note!).  Now in 15" steels, but think Pegasus is right about the BBS being option as mate who had an H-plate 8v had the BBS on his (and is was totally original).

New member as well!

Bought mine on ebay two weeks ago, 1000 very happy miles so far. 1991 J plate, August registered, so just too early to be a roll out model. So has the standard folding rear seats, not split (extra) 14'' steel wheels not the BBS RA (extra) or smoked lenses etc, but has the sunroof and power steering.

Bit of a gamble buying a car unseen 100 miles away, but very lucky! Unmodified car, bit of rust and a few dinks. Had new tailgate which you'd never know, except they put the standard one on, not the GTi one, which being red has the rear spoiler foils added. (see brochure)  I love it! These cars as so much fun, great to drive etc. Sold VW's new in 1995, and so glad I spotted this bargain.

You can still get G60 steel wheels (see my sig) new from the dealership - would give it a nice clean OE+ look  :smiley:

just to add the car may have had teardrops 14 inch alloys as quite a few MK2 Gti's had these fitted as standdard or even 14 inch bbs RZ. but have to agree 15 inch bbs ra set off any MK2 gti

check the options sticker in the boot under the carpet. the codes will tell you what options were fitted on your car.
there is a thread on clubgti which mentions this
