Gearbox oil - OMG!!!

Just changed the gearbox oil on my valver!!

piece of pee, and what a fantastic difference the Redline MTL has made!!

It is so much smoother it is unbelievable!!

It is an a must that you all do it!!!

Has it got rid of the crunching as well dude?  been thinking of doing this for a while now, where did you get yours from? oh and how many of the us quart bottles did you need?

I must be one of the fortunate few that doesn't have the 2nd gear crunch! :grin: :grin:

So I can't confirm that it will cure that - but many have reported that it does if the crunch isn't too bad to start with.

Couldn't find it any cheaper??

You need 2 bottles (2 quarts, which is about 1.9litres I think).

get it done only takes 30 mins! :wink:

Thanks for the heads up! I was planning to do mine, deffo now!. I am hoping to get some at a show in the summer (if not I will use your link)  :smiley:

Anyone think a trader will have some at say GTI International?

Anyone wanna do an FYI for a mk2 gti 8v 5speed gearbox, picked one up yesterday and would like to give it a full service.

Dead easy.

Required:
Jack & Axel Stands
17mm hex/sump key
Ratchet/power bar
Flexible funnel
2 bottles of Redline MTL

Drive around for a few miles to warm gearbox oil, it helps it to run out!

Jack car up (passenger side) as high as safely possible.
Remove wheel.
Check you can undo the fill plug, before you drain it! :wink:
On Bottom of gearbox, remove the drain plug, empty oil into suitable container.
Remove side fill plug, helps oil run out as well.
Re-fit drain plug.
fill slowly using funnel, fill with 2 quartz (2 bottles of Redline MTL)
Tighten fill bolt.
Refit wheel, tighten up wheel bolts!

take it for a spin and enjoy your silky gearbox! :grin: :grin: :grin:
