Carcraft warning!
« on: 12 May 2007, 12:45 »
Hi guy, My parents have just been stung big style by Carcraft in Newport
very poor offer on their x reg polo - £1500
Not allowed to keep the car tax.
Convinced them to have Carcraft credit - big no, no!
allowed them to drive away with no car tax.
It just gets worse, so be careful!
Conned them into getting extra warranty for the car, but this warranty needs service stamps and VAT receipts to reimburse - yet the car has not service history!
While many of you may be thinking 'How could they be so stupid', well that has crossed my mind but my parents are pensioners and took the w@nkers speel for truth.
Just don't sign anything, or better still avoid the place like the plague!!!!

<br />Almost finished.....

Carcrapt...

Overpriced cars

Underpriced trade-ins

Extortionate APR's

I would never even consider a car from there....EVER....period!!!

Example...First and last visit ever was to look for a little auto runaround for the missus about 2 yrs ago. Looked at a 1.2 Punto Auto, 51 reg, 37,000 miles, fairly tidy......ready for this........£5995

Eventually found one...5 door 1.2 Auto, 52 reg, 13,500 miles (previous owner a female vicar...I kid you not!)...£4,200 with FSH and a 2 year warranty from a local dealer :smug:

So, it was overpriced by £1,800, older with more miles and 2 less doors. Carcrapt were offering 0% finance at the time on the TV and if I had wanted finance it would have been a good deal....except there was no 0% finance available and the rate they had on all the cars was 19.9% APR

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

I think thats the place that use to be called Emperess Motors ? About 15 years ago I worked with someone who bought a car off them and it all ended up in court as the car just wasnt safe for road use and they had put a MOT on in about a week before (there own MOT station). I wouldnt buy a wheel nut off them and can only agree with and confirm the previous comments, these sorts of practices shouldnt be allowed these days

Should get between 14 and 30 days cooling off period. Probably be a pain in the ass arguing with them but CAB citizens advice should be able to help you with it, A lot of house insurance policies have legal cover as well if it got messy hth :)

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

Get them to phone their local Consumer Direct, they should be able to offer all the advice they'll need with regards to taking the car back.  The website is http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ I'm pretty sure there is a cooling off period but CD will be able to tell them for definate
