URGENT Car wont start can anyone explain why?

cut out the other day but i reset the immobiliser and it started again straight away.

but today i konked out about 1 minute after starting and it refuses to start. it turns over but sounds as if it's not firing at all. it also makes a kind of pop when i turn the ignition off again and also their was oil in the distributor for some reason!

also noticed when i lock the car it now bleeps 3 times instead of 1.

it's a toad alarm and was on the car when i bought it but i have no instruction manual for it.

doesnt sound like its the alarm fault.

Are you getting a spark at the spark plugs?

no spark at all think it is maybe an immobiliser problem but not a clue where to turn it off on the car.

is their a certain place an alarm would tend to be fitted?

what car? MK2 i take it?

The box could be behind the dash somewhere or behind the centre console area.

With Clifford CAT1's. If you disconnect the battery they automaticaly reset to the standard settings.

Am I right in thinking this was the car you bought off your friend ?

Try as said by disconnecting bat and see if alarm resetts itself, also should obviously not be oil in distributor, is coil sparking

well tried dissconnecting the battery and left it for 10 minutes and then reconnected it but it did not work. it may be the coil but not going to get a chance to have a look till 2moro!

if you have oil in the dissy than this is why it wont start.

the immobiliser is normaly connected to the fuel pump
and starter or the fuel pump and cars live feed from ignition so that no electrics will work........

with most non spark related problems for you do anything else check the engine earth straps / wire....
99% of the time its theses which cause problems in winter because of all the wet weather they corrode..

if your earths are ok then check the coils you can do it either with a multimeter see haynes book or pull off the coil to dissy cap lead..... leave it on the coil , just pull it off the dissy cap and get someone to hold it near the cylider head like you would with the leads and then crank the engine if you get a spark its not the coil... if you dont get a spark check the low tention wires on the coil ....and try again if no spark coil is faulty....... when holding the lead be careful not to get a shock......

the car is now ok went out about 8 and it started first time.

but the the car sarted and then idled jumping between 1000 and 2000 revs rising and falling till i sarted driving it was then ok.
