vw tints

its an option, how good/dark are they. 175 aint cheap but aint a lot either so just wanting options on them or ill go elsewhere

Hi SteveS,

Click on the link below and it will take you to the piccies of my car. It has the rear tint option. I went to an aftermarket window tinter for a quote on my last VW mkV golf GTTDI and he quoted me £200 for the same kind of job, but bear in mind that the factory tints are actually the windows and aftermarket jobbies are simply film tints over the existing windows. :nerd:

You can see out good. These are very soft tints, I actually expected more. They look fine, though.

Aftermarket tints often end up with bubbles - especially on the rear windscreen when they place the 'film' over the heated lines.
Factory tints are coloured glass and look much better IMO.

I ordered the factory tints - I'm just hoping they dont make my car look like a van!  I've never seen them on a 3dr Steel Grey!!

Had mine done by an indy, he does all the local Land Rover and VW dealers tints

This is 35% the lower the number the darker it is, he said this is what the dealers call factory grade.

Not the best picture I'm afraid.

the front look quite dark too? might just be the image...

u can tint the glass after then?

I had mine done by Pentagon Glass Tech in London, and I had 'light smoke' all round.  I would say the VW factory tint is darker, but I actually wanted to be able to see out!  cost £400, but worth it for security and looks.  probably cheaper outside london, but these guys are pros and have always had decent reviews as I researched before I had it done.

Most dealers will get an after market trimmer in, even if you spec tint's at time of order, there's more profit for them that way, I paid £115 for mine, as me and a mate had them done together, so the total bill was £230
