knock sensor...

Hi Guys,

I've searched for the toirque setting for my knock sensor on my 8v digifant... can't find it! :embarassed:

I've replaced it, done it up fairly tight but it is running like a bag of spanners.

Please help!

It should be 20 Nm or 15 lb ft in old money, which isn't very tight?

I changed mine for a new one and it made one hell of a difference.

Mind out when tightening as I took all the skin on off my knuckles on the dam alternator

Just noticed this thread when I did a search and need a bit of advice, my car runs O.K but Ive just changed the oil and noticed that the black plastic sleeve that insulates the wire from the knock sensor is broken open in several places but the car runs fine ! Should I change it, cover the damage with insulation tape or just leave it alone ? I'm a bit unsure about changing it as I'm quite good at f*cking up delicate jobs like this  . Any advice or suggestions much appreciated

Mine was the same, I removed the knock sensor form the block and repaired the insulation with tape and re-torqued the sensor to the block.

As said the important thing is to get the torque right to the block, The 20 Nm or 15 lb ft above sounds right.  It is not very tight!
