Van aaken tuned pd130
« on: 06 February 2004, 15:00 »
I am dead excited as tomorrow morning having smart box fitted to my PD130. Was gonna go REVO route but cos this is a company car i need to be able to disconnect at service time so bosses don't find out. So this wsensible option.  I have used van aaken before on my punto GT and my fiesta, o they are good.  When i phoned up yesterday afternoon, they said is saturday morning ok. Too right, usually you have to wait weeks to booked  in some places.  They have a PD130 demo car there already and they reckon it should go to 163BHp with an extra 25  lb ft torque, so now i will be able to chase around after the PD150 boys and win, wha hey,  Come on S11EPS bring it on son, lol

Feels like christmas eve today.

163 brake huh? Hmmmm.

I'll still have a go! Like its says in my sig, I drive it like I stole it!

That should make a very fast car indeed, that was the tuning box I was looking at, as you can unplug it come service time. Let me know what its like and maybe I'll go for it too!

163 Huhhhh?? HHMMMMM

Thats what i said as it feels more liek 250bhp!!!

MAD MAD MAD MAD MAD, thats all i can say, the car now flies.

On the 90 mile trip home, i played with a V5 and to say i pissed on him was an understatement, the car now spins in 1st 2nd and 3rd, I also played with a petrol turbo. I know its a turbo cos the boy spends all day letting veryone know it is with his dump valve, and he was pissed.

It does smoke a little more now but the MPG is amazingly better, sat all the way at a min of 90 and got average fuel econo of 53mpg, Wow used to only be 40 -43 at that speed, i even sauid this on an earlier post.

Also the best bit is i can make it go even faster if i want, the guy at van aaken showed me how to put it to setting 4.  this i will try soon and i have been told them that it will smoke quite a bit on this setting.  i am gonna try this tomorrow.

I recommend this as a definate upgrade

Get your pennys out, plus i can remove when ever i want to.

Right, two questions!

Where are Van Aarken based?
How much money do I need to take with me??

That sounds like good fun, I wanna slice of that action!

I'll even try to get my boss to pay for it on the basis of improved fuel economy  ;D

Had a tussle with a 150 pd this morning. i won.   The boost is just there though all the revs and revs past 4500 and stil pulls where as before  would only pull up to 3500.

Van aaken are in crowthorne in berks, and the cost was ?470 then u can sell it on after you have finished with it on e-bay.

are you gonna go for it?/

F*ck yes!

Any idea what power/torque increases I can expect from a tuned 150?

i think the figures jabba sport iare a bit ott, Van-aaken who supply main dealers reckon the 150 will go to about 180-ish.

I'm pretty sure Frosticles has mid 190's out of his, although I know he's running an upprated filter too. Not sure which system of tuning he's running though........

Is the V/A a plug in jobbie? I like the sound of the jabba's power figures, but would prefer something fully removable for trips to the stealership etc.

Did you have a go with the next setting (level 4?)

What was that like?

Frankly, f8ck the amount of smoke I chuck out, if I can start hassling R32's I'm up for that  ;D

no i have'nt tried setting 4 yet, My mate is trying to sort out a switching mechanism for it, I don't want to have to open up the box each time i want to go crazy.  i do have a remote control relay that i got from Maplins so may use that and have a switch on the dash to switch between setting 3 and 4.  I will probably not have an answer for you for a couple of weeks, but lets just say i had a mess around with quite a few golfs now and there is not much that has beaten me yet.

In fact i am going to probably get a TDi badge for the rear now so it reads GTDI as people wonj't believ its a diesel any more and i am proud of it when i wipp theres asses.

yes it is a plug jobbie.  i think jabba sports figures are excessive, thats why i like van-aaken because when you get the car is done they don't turn around and say "there thats 1000BHP, they simply say go and have a drive and see if you like it, which i can happily say yes i do.

As like me your car is technically not your car a plug in job is better as you can sell it on or put it on another PD150 later on.

If my car was'nt a company car then i would have an R32 bodykit, 19's and one of those AMD diesl dump valves. So if i change job this year, which i probably will, i will take the Box off and put it on my privately purchased 130PD which i will definatley now be purchasing if i need to later on.

Let me know if you are gonna go for it, the guys there did say that they did a PD150 and the guy brought it back to get it removed as the wife said it was too fast. take from that what you will.
