henspeed - They were fine about the refund but had little choice given the condition

All I really wanted to say was to be very careful if buying a "bargain" from a car supermarket (for the record my car was not from Motorpoint).
I would hate for somebody on here to be as disappointed as I was.
My advice is to see the car before paying anything and check it's VIN tag even though it's supposedly new.

Blimey - makes you wonder why they were in a field / unsold for so long.

With that amount of corrosion, maybe they were salvaged from the container ship on the south coast by some pikeys!

That's a disgrace, how can a car be standing around for so long, when were all quoted 8-12 weeks delivery on new motors,It look's more like a car thats been washed up on a beach. I'd be staright in touch with VW UK.

This story and the associated pics should be sent to What Car or some other motoring publication to warn others and name/shame the offending company. I would have no hesitation at all if this was done to me.

OK lads I can tell you It was not ordered from the following dealers (supermarkets) ;-

Motorpoint
Car World
All Brands New

But was ordered from an "other" supermarket based in Hull.

I forgot to tell you the story when I ordered it. Bloody stupid of me I know but here goes

Took a black GTi for a drive which looked and felt fine, tiny amounts of corrosion but nothing like the delivered car. They said wheels would be replaced under warranty plus any other parts that were required - no probs me thinks!
Struck a deal and then waited. During the week that followed I spoke again to the salesman who slipped into the conversation that the car I drove and thought was mine had been sold but that I would get a car to the same spec and condition..!!

mmmm I know what I think they did..

That is shocking!!
I agree with charri42, how can they allow a car to stand for so long? :undecided: With regards to the legal side of not wanting to shame please do...

There are possibly people here and on other sites (Vwvortex etc) that may be buying their Golfs through this dealer. Of course there will be a hassle to get your car replaced and why put others through that hassle?  :undecided:

I reckon you should email VW Uk and make a complaint then spread the word... (After consulting a lawyer, priest etc)
These Bastewards need to be sorted out

Cheers

This is shocking. I had been surprised at some of the discounts on the GTI being offered from some of the car supermarkets. I wonder if they all come from a single batch or if this is a single bad lot at a single car supermarket? In any event shocking and a good advert as to why to buy from the main stealer.

I think Allbrandsnew and Motorprovider are sister companies (sod it they've messed me about enough they can be named). Hence the story about wheel corrosion from allbrandsnew tallying up with your story Andy.
