Your Opinion on Non GTIs here...
« on: 06 February 2004, 09:51 »
I'm in two minds about this...

thing is.. there are several people here who have 'GTI'd up' non GTI cars.. and while they look pretty.. they're not 'real'

should we welcome them for their love of golfs?  or ask why the'yre spending 100s on body mods to look like something they arent.. people are gonna think golfs are slow if they try to race one of these fake sheep in wolves clothing.. even more ludicrous has been the talk of adding NOS to one of these car.. the result of which would just about give it the performance of a 'real' gti...

however i do understand that esp. young drivers cant afford to insure a gti.. but.. this is a gti forum so erm... ?

I think the same thoughts could be applied to Mk3 8v members.

most cant afford the insurance hence why they do them up to look like Gti's, but eventually as they build up the no claims they move on and buy a real GTi

i say let them do what they want, if you cant afford a Gti then a lookalike is the next best thing

so should we have a gti lookalikes or non-gti section for them then?

to me its pretty weird to me to see someone here asking about NOS and wanting to improve the performance of their car, which turns out to be a 1.6 CL.. too much f&f ?

Its not realy fair to dismiss the wannabe GTis from the site.

We all have to start somewhere and this site must benefit loads of Golf owners just on maintenance alone. I know its helped me out alot.

Lets not be playground bullies   ;)

Wow....Small Minded or what.

Insurance does not cover N2o, They wont cover your car if you have your tanks active, However this means they wont put your premiums up,  Hence why some one (such as me) would want to put it in there car as it would be a cheap performance boost and it would be a fun way to learn

I could say the same to everyone who puts G60 arches on there cars, Do you drive a G60? Nope, so why do you have them? If you really want to be small minded enaught to push other golf owners out of the forums you need to realise this, Some of the CL owners on this forum are young students earning less in a year than some earn in a month. Yet there love of golfs push them to do it.

I found what you put to be offencive, Sorry if im being out of line here but so what if i want N2O in my ride? Its my car after all isnt it? If your worried about peoples oppinions about VW golfs look at it this way, If some one things your golf is slow, Proove them wrong...Its really not that hard

Love Fielder
(a Offended VW golf CL driver who sincerly appologises for not having pockets deep enaught to afford the 2k a year insurance costs of owning a 16V GTI)

Open your heart and let the non-Gti owners in  :-* hehe

I dont think their a problem. I dont see this just as a GTi site but as a trouble shooting kinda site if you get me?
