Soon to Be Mk5 Owner
« on: 02 May 2007, 15:14 »
Thought that I would say a quick Hello in the Mk5 section, Hurdys Idea.

I have a few weeks to wait until my GTI arrives and it is absolute torture.

I have had a mk3 Gti and VR6 in the past along with 2 Scirroco's.
I have always bought VW group cars as you cant beat them.

I staryed over to the Seat side for a few years bought a Leon Cupra then a Cupra R.

The time for a change came along and I didnt fancy the new Leon so I opted for the Mk5 Golf instead.

Welcome

You made the right choice bro. The golf is a better looking and the best looking hatch in the world.
Plus, there are far too many boy racers in Leons around my end and they always get tortured

The new Leons are just nasty inside, the golf takes some beating for quality and refinement even if its not the quickest of the hot hatches out there.

I would say the Mk5 GTI is up there in term of one of quickest, or am I mistaken?

there isnt much that can keep up, ok the others have maybe 20 more horsepower, but if you opt for DSG version, that more then makes up!

We can all sympathise with the "waiting pains" for a new motor.

Yep, me too.

Mine is supposed to be here sometime next week but it was only built last week so I've not got my hopes up.   Ordered 23rd Feb.

Same here - I think I ordered it at the end of Feb - and when I spoke to the stealer yesterday they said it was build week 20.  So if its not being built till next week, I'm not likely to see it for about another 6 weeks
I was originally quoted 8-12 weeks, but looks like it'll be nearer 14-16.
The dealer said it was now taking them over 10 weeks to get a standard golf.
