please help! 1.6 driver keeps cutting out.
« on: 02 May 2007, 09:40 »
hi to all, thanks for reading.
i recently swapped a knakkered corsa for an almost mint condition mk2 driver, the guy said it ran like sh*** and just keeps cutting out.
it was runnning rubbish because the carb flange was knakkered, that fixed. when she runs whe runs quite well and is a real nice car to drive! but....

whilst im driving along the engine will lose all power and the rev gauage will drop to nothing, most times it will start again within a few seconds just by bumping it off using the cars momentum. occasionally it wont start at all and i have to get towed home, but as soon as i get home she will start again? this makes it extremely difficult to diagnose! so i started replacing the cheep(ish) items one at a time, recently shes had
1.rotor arm
2.dizzy cap
3.ht leads
4.Plugs
5.the lil earth strap between the rocker cover and the coil
6.Coil

im semi sure iv fitted all these parts correctly as when she runs she runs well. however just recently shes been getting worse i cant trust her to get me home anymore.
so ideas anyone? hall sender perhaps? although i thought the rev guage did crazy things when that went? please help because i dont want to sell her!

Try doing a compression test on the cylinders, may give you some answers!  :undecided:

I had this recently on my ryder, it turned out to be the battery. It wouldnt charge properlly, so I bought a 50Amp one.
