tuning my mates 8v gti digi....
« on: 01 May 2007, 11:54 »
hallo,

having read the tuning guide on the maintenence section, and decided im going to try my luck on my mates car, i've asked him and he want it doing...

however, he's had a 2ltr b/e and fast cams, boostvalve..or someting (improves throttle response apparantly).. will the set up guide still be applicable to his car? just its idle is really lumpy and we really think it can go with alot more grunt..

if it blows up, the i want to blame you guys thats all...

rob

The lumpy idle and poor performance will more than likely be down to the fast cams. Have they been 'dialled in' properly using a vernier pulley etc? If that means nothing to you I'd advice taking it for a rolling road session and having it checked out.

Dave.

When the car is up to temp, unplug the blue temp sender, if the engine doesn't change, replace it.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

its been tuned apparantly by Noble and was just wondering if it would be same just to check it was still tuned...

i'll try the blue temp sender and see if that makes a difference...

thanks for the advice.

yep the guide will still be applicable if its still using the std injection.  Only thing that may differ is the idle mixture, you may need a bit more richness, or you may not.  Though I've set up my GTI with a 2.0 bottom end using the std settings and all is well!
