Been looking for one for ages and finally sold my Vectra the weekend.  Went to look at a 52 plate (registered 16/01/03) car on Sunday and decided to buy it.  Not quite the colour I was after (was after Indigo Blue) but it looks good non the less.  The spec is as follows
2003 52 plate Golf GTi TDi 150
Metallic Black
Cream Leather
55k miles
Xenons
Climate
Cruise
Winter pack (auto dip rear view, heated washer jets, headlamp washers, heated seats etc)
Full service history
new cambelt, camshaft, waterpump and cooling fans @ 50k miles (over £1k worth)
New tyres all round
Blaupunkt Single CD player

I'm paying £8500 for it which seems a very good price comparing what's out there on Autotrader however there are some things to sort (just niggly things)

1 - interior needs a very deep clean so strip out seats, clean headlining, carpets and clean/condition leather.
2 - A good mop and polish
3 - Service due in 300 miles
4 - Needs taxing (not a major problem at only £115 for the year)
5 - rear brake pads need replacing imminently
6 - Trim around stereo and climate rattles (any tips on how to fix?)

Extras which I will be doing quite quickly
1 - Double Din 7inch DVD player with all the trimmings.
2 - Look into a revo chip or similar once I've driven the car to see if the performance is enough.
3 - replace gear gaiter with a cream leather one (current one black but worn).

your could try pulling out the trim and fixing anti-rattle strips behind it. or just hit it and hope it stops!

The cream leather goes well with the black. I was after a black one but had to get silver in the end.

you've actually got a really good price there!

the first think you should do is get down to volkswagen and get some headlight protectors.  one of mine got stone chipped a few months back and you don't get much change from £400 for the xenon units (per side).

the protectors are about £30 for the pair, if anyone tells you they aren't compatible with xeonos they are chatting rubbish, its the MK5 bi-xenons they don't work with.

So headlamp protectors are on the list - check.
I could not find another one on Autotrader with the same spec for that price.  Although the interior stuff is minor and will jsut require elbow grease I need to give the leather a very good deep clean and then condition it.  I was quids in due to all the work being done with regards to the cam and cabelt/waterpump etc.

well you've pretty much got the full spec there, so you'll be hard pushed to find another like it.

the most exclusive option you'll find is the xenons, as you just don't see that many MK4's with proper factory (legal) xenons.

regarding the leather i use Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner Conditioner, but the auto glym is meant to be as good, if you really want to treat her get some zymol

I've got the auto glym stuff.  It's there is some cracking which I want to minimise as much as possible.  It's fully loaded alright, just hasn't got the normal casset radio with six disc changer in dash, but as I'm looking for a double Din I'm not that fussed.

Just found out it's an import.  Not in the sense it was registered elsewhere then was imported.  More that it was bought abroad and then registered in the UK.  The V5 states the same date for Date first registered and date first registered in the UK.  What are your opinions on this?  It's fully loaded and I'm gonna check the Option codes tomorrow night.
