M3 chasers
« on: 01 May 2007, 11:34 »
Coming back from a mates late sunday night an M3 went to undertake me (convertible 55' plate), the road was empty (or should I say private ) so I decided I wouldn't let him pass without a fight, burried the loud pedal deep in the carpet and to my surprise the M3 didn't get past  300m down the road and I'm still in front  the noises he was making were unreal

As we sat next to each other at the lights at the end of the track he was giving me proper evils

Anyone else out there come up against any M3's?

was it def an M3? or perhaps a dressed up 3 series.
it seems to me that almost all BMW drivers have a compulsion to plaster M badges all over their cars.
Respect if it was indeed an M3 though!

Thats what I thought at first, til I looked into them, on paper there's not much in it and they weigh more than 2x a Mk1

no doubt at 100mph+ things would be a little different

It was a convertible, had the vents on the wings (usually missed by the M3 wannabe's) and the noise it was making was getting me moist

A M3 'should' kill 99% of cars on the road. If it had the flared arches and the vents in the front arches it would be a case of
no chance. He may not be able to drive it proper.

I did have a play with one but it destroyed the Rallye so I just leave them alone now.

I didn't get the reg cos he was behind me all the time  :smug:

:undecided: I need to get mine on a rolling road and see whats going on, I'm guessing about 150bhp, but this was the 1st real test of the 16v power, and what a result

On paper the M3's got the edge, but not by a great deal

M3  (http://www.autobytel.co.uk/UsedCars/UsedCarDetail.aspx?Car=574770 )
0-60 = 5.5 power = 198bhp/ton

Me (@150bhp)
0-60 = 6.07 power = 182bhp/ton  (used stats calculator)

EDIT No.2 - Did I mention we started on a bend, I'm guessing the M3's TCS would have been knocking the power right down, the road wasn't particularly even either  :undecided:
