ISV
« on: 05 February 2004, 17:43 »
Hello....

Can anyone give me adivse on how to clean the ISV, don't you take the screw out  and leave it in CARB cleaner all night, i'm not sure how to do this.

My car is a 1989 GTI 16v 1.8

When slowing down to juntions and putting the clutch in the car wants to stall then the rev's get them selved back to normal until i stop again.

Any advice would be great....
cheers lads.  ;)

'Scuse I for being fick, but ISV?  Idle stabilisation valve or something?

I'm having a similar problem.  That and an idle that oscilates between 850 and 1k revs.

How do you disconnect the ISV spade connector, have tried pulling it apart but no joy, notice it's got some dimples on it, is there something special I have to do, our just brute force and ignorance (which I have plenty of :))

Just a quick note to say thanks!

Took the ISV out yesterday, cleaned it with carb cleaner and no longer does my car play "hunt the idle".

Cheers all  ;D
