Funny noise

Wonder what this might be....c when I park my car after a long drive say 25miles or more, I hear a loud clunging noise.

It comes on 5mins after parking the car and lasts within a sec or two. It sounds like a stone has been thrown at the central part of the exhuast system.

Well I was previously told that metal expand when hot and therefore make such noise.
One that my car makes is louder than normal. Quite loud indeed! Any advise please?

probably the exhaust after its cooled down.

Was thinking of getting it checked out, shall I leave it as it is? Is it normal to make such loud noise?

The thing you will notice is the longer the drive the louder the noise.

Your exhaust is trying to dissipate more heat than it would it you just poped to the shops and back.

i agree.....its your exhaust as long as you car drives ok
and isnt chucking out oil or coolent then i would say all is in order....

Cheers Modulater I couldn't agree with you more. It does exactly that. Louder over a long drive. At least I now know why it makes that loud noise.

Ya know, If it was somthing serious and he didnt bother getting it checked out and ended up having his car blow up.....You would all feel pritty goofy
