Mk3 - 2 quick questions before i buy it!

I have looked at a few mk3 golf tdi's and have found what seems to be a good one. 2 questions...
The drivers window does not work - when i press the button there is a quiet click from inside the door, but the window doesnt move. Is this likely to be an easy fix from a scrapyard?
Also - when driving over 50, the steering wheel vibrates indicating balancing/tracking...but on a receipt from last year the mechanic had noted that the power steering pump (i think it was pump) was loose because the holes were worn. Could this be the cause of the vibrations and hence be expensive to fix?
Cheers

hi
my mk3 had the same window problem in the back - it just clicked. it turned out to be the earth going to the motor throught the door hinge (inside the rubber boot) that had snapped - this seems to be a common problem.
not sure about the pas pump but i wouldnt have thought a loose one would cause vibrations - more likely to be wheel balancing (about £5 a wheel).
hope that helps!

more likely to be wheel balancing (about £5 a wheel).
Or possibly a steering rack??

Vibrations throught the steering wheel are things like, wheel balance, bent wheel, warped disc, track rod end worn.

i'd try the tracking first then check to see if the discs are warped. my mates mk3 gti got through loads of discs, mind u he was on the brakes all the time the idiot.

tracking is if a car pulls in a direction...
balancing will more likely resolve vibration as the wheels arent true which is why weights are added
