Yes, most definately will have a resale impact. Incidentally, my suspicions were confirmed - on last nights Fifth Gear, they stated that stolen vehicles definately do go on the likes of HPI registers. Unfortunately, the detail on the registers won't actually state that the keys were stolen beforehand, so if more GTIs get nicked with keys, this could have an adverse effect on insurance for all GTI owners!
Re the tracker ....yes I understand what you are saying re the low life ...but am convinced that my car was not sepcifically targetted (Stolen from Gym on first visit with Golf)....I'll give it some thought.
