Guests!
« on: 26 April 2007, 11:15 »
What is it around here when the Guests can be more than double the number of members logged?

Why dont these people join up?

Dont they realise they are missing out on so much as there are sections they cant see?

Numpties!

I have very recently bought a Golf and new to the dub scene. I found this site, and being new to it I cannot easily see how i can join. I logged on to the site, read the home page etc, went into the forum, registered, then after a quick route around, read this post.

I've still not yet seen any link relating to joining..

maybe it'd be good to tell guests (again?!) how to "join up"..if only just for me

As you have "joined" mate perhaps you would care to go to the New Members Section and introduce yourself properly.

Welcome ex-guest!

Maybe restrict access like other forum to make people join before viewing all areas? But that relies on 'guests' being bothered to do that. :undecided:

Just logged off to check!
Its the whole Deals and Discounts Section and yes the Insurance bit.

If guests want to just browse the forum for info then why not, yes if they create a login they get access to a couple of extra boards, but that's it. You can't post as a guest so there's no involvement in any banter etc nor will they get answers to their questions if they can't find their answers with a search as they can't post, so it's not really harming anyone as far as I can see.
......now officially dubless.

Search engine spiders should only show up in the server logs not as a Guest user.

Anyway, as pointed out, why shouldn't guests be able to browse the forum?
If they just want to see what it's like before joining, or just cos they want to find a bit of information about a car, or even to find a vw to buy and thus join the VW community.
If they like what they see, they'll join so that they can be part of the banter and goings on.

I think locked down forums are very discouraging, and if guests aren't welcome, they won't stick around.
