Monza Replicas vs official VW Monzas
« on: 24 April 2007, 14:04 »
Hi Guys, is there much difference between a replica monza wheel and one purchased from the official stealers?? I do like the rims on my ED30 but it keeps eating at me everytime I see a GTI with 18'' Monzas!!! Just seen a white GTI at lunchtime and the wheels were awesome!!!

Don't do it

Stick with the Pescaras as it is what makes the ED30 an ED30

If you MUST have Monza II's go for originals as any replica's will be poorer quality and probably weigh more than the Forth bridge.

do it!! Heres a pic to tease ya!, cant see weight being an issue, normally replicas are of a high standard, depending on how much your prepared to splash.

Hi,

I got some of the Monza 2 replics from rochford tyres of ebay (bout £350). I brought them specifically to put winter tyres (Vredestien wintrac extreme - well recommended) on to save my perfect Monzas from the winter salt.

When you get them they seem ok, untill you put them next to a proper Monza. The difference in quality is noticable.

After 7000 winter miles the laquer has started to come of from around the centres and they look well scabby. I would not be hapy with them on my car and will give them a fresh coat of paint and laquer before they go back on this winter.

You could always by a cheapo set, and send them to Spit and Polish that will put the proper finish on them, and a harder laquer ant about $60 per wheel.

I'm sure someone would do you a straight swap.

I think the pescaras are more desirable.

Well I suppose everyone has their own idea of what looks good.

I've bought a GTI which arrives in 2 weeks but really don't like the Monzas.  I've bought ollieb7's pescaras.
