1.6 ABU engine

how can i tell if the head gasket has gone without taking it apart ????

a friend says i can have the car for £50 but he thinks the head gasket has gone will be seeing the car tomorrow

White gunge on the oil cap 
Crap in the coolant 
oil/water leaking out the head gasket
heavy miss fire
burning oil

Best thing is to get a compression tester in there and see.

Im sure i have missed a few common symptoms there, some one else will fill them  in i'm sure   :smiley:

quite possibly yes... the amount of frothing dogs I see at the auctions suggests that most blown head gaskets will run after a fashion...

Some will run fine, others will run rough, allot wont start at all.
