Lads i cant believe you have completely missed the point!

Get your missus a 5 door (like I have just done ) then get yourself a 3dr GTI which will be a pain for the kids to get in, so when you have to transport the nippers its her car that gets covered in mud, sweets, crumbs etc etc and not yours!

Jesus, amatuers the lot of you¬

Hi there, I'm also planning a 3dr and thinking about access to a baby seat -

I'd convinced myself that a 3dr would be better as you could push the front seat forward and effectively crouch in the rear footwell, face backwards and fasten baby seat straps etc from square on.

I figured that with a 5dr it would be awkward - you'd end up reaching across the child seat, putting the baby in and fastening him in from the side, rather than face on?

I take it from this thread that it's my heart ruling my head then!? (sadly can't get a second car with 5drs!)

cheers

i've got a 3 dr ed30 and two young sons (4 and5) and find three doors to be fine, obviously it would be easier with 4 drs for a baby seat, but you would get by fine with 3drs.( 3drs also looks better imo)

Buy yourself a 5door, trust me too many people on here have bought 3 doors with new borns and within months resold them due to the fact of trying to get baby seat into place , and its normally... "the wife says it must go"
The 5 door is just as good looking as the 3 door, put your sensible hat on Bobman, get a 5 door, ok if your kids are 4-5 years u dont have to clip in/out child seats all the time. Dont let it be "oh i wish i bought a 5 door in the 1st place"
Its a costly mistake to loose money trading one in later. trust me

Now I know I put the arguement for a 3 door earlier in this thread but if I had a babyseat (my kids are 12 and 14 now) then I would get a 5 door, purely for the saftey issue of getting the little one out in an emergency.  My kids are old enough to look after themselves now!

Don't tell us they were born by C-section, and only use the sunroof for getting in and out . . .

OK, I'll get me coat!
