16 Anniversary GTI Info help?
« on: 20 April 2007, 14:49 »
Hi

Just got myself a Satin Silver 16V GTI Anniversary Edition. I believe the standard BHP is around 150, no idea on the torque. What i wanted to know is what kind of power increase should i be expecting with the following mods added to it?

Hi Flo Catalytic Convertor
Free Flow Downpipe/Manifold
Sports BackBox
Tuning Chip
Apexi Intake
Shortshifter
and no Backseats

Any help appreciated and also, if anyone can fill me in on the amount of torque the car should have as standard? Currently the car is only lowered 20mm from what i have been told, though this could be wrong.

Thanks

Hafizur

mate does your car look like this ( in the sig picture below) but in silver. If so, not many around. I would suggest to keep it standard. Only my opinion.

hi
yeah, thats it, but in satin silver and 5 doors.
i got it for an engine conversion
from what i have found out they only made 125 of those so very rare
so basically in two minds, three minds actually

mind 1: clean it up and keep it
mind 2: upgrade with bolt ons (usually keep the oem stuff just in case i want to sell the car again)
mind 3: convert to 1.8t 20v

yeh the choice is completely up to you, i rekon adding mods may devalue the car, but if you keep the originals you should be ok. a clean standard should hold its value but depends really. There was 150 16v from my knowledge, not sure how many were silver or 5 door tho. If your bascially gonna strip the car change the wheels and strip interior, then another base car could be used i rekon.

Dont really need the down pipe or CAT pipe.

If you use a decent air filter and a CAT back system with a chip you will get around 175bhp. The first two wont make much difference to that.

It will never keep up with your R32 mate!

But most definitely keep all the original parts as it will resale far better as standard.

No no nooooooooooooooo

Keep it standard, replace only standard stuff. Good investment you've got there, imagine the resale value in a few years

Many Thanks. Phil

The curb weight is about 1200kg.

I've bought a chip from ebay its a powerchips one, going to fit and test it with a spare ECU I have.
The test platform will be santa pod for me
Also a K&N panel filter if funds allow too
