Following on from the gizz thread with fielders Mrs and the Stonor Park show camping I thought I'd start a new thread about the above. I emailed John Daniel who is in charge of this and his reply was the following:

"Hi Nick.   Depends on what kind of a club you are.   Know you are internet based but do you have any connection with the Club GTi Chapters up and down the country or are you purely on the internet.   If so, does this mean you do not have a club membership fee or social meetings?   Regds John Daniel"

So I have replied with this:

"Hi John,

We have no connection with the Club GTi chapters (although some of their members use our forums). We don't have a club membership fee as all money to run the site is clawed back from sales of stickers etc. As for social meets we don't have anything regular as such but we have adhoc meets all over the country where members arrange a meet in their local area. We also get together at other peoples events like Stonor Park and at the No Rice meets once a month."

I get the feeling we're not the sort of club they can see fitting in with their ethos. We don't charge for membership and we don't issue membership numbers.

Why have I looked into this you ask? Well they have restircted camping to people who are members of clubs that are part of The Association of British VW Clubs and I thought if we could get in there it would mean we could camp it up at stonor and have a little party. THey also do a few other shows over the year that are quite good too.

I sugessted membership etc. years ago to jv and he didnt want to go that route.
It sounds far too organised to me.
But would it get us into Club Camping at Bugjam?

So is this like a club joining a club? Sounds a bit weird to me, too many clubs....
08.03.10 - 3, maybe 4 weeks, and I want my golf back on the road!

Here's a link with the info:

But yeah it's like a club joining a club. My thoughts were that if it's free and we don't actually have to do anything other than sign up then why not? It'll get us camping at stonor, not sure about Bugjam, I'll have a look and find out.

Yes I'm sure you would, I'm just not sure it's the kind of memories Mrs Horney would want. The current plan is to be on the north cornish coast that weekend in the van surfing it up.

Hmmmmm yea that sounds good! If I could guarantee a 4ft set at Harlyn Bay and warm sun then I'd be tempted too!

But they'll be cold beer in the Harlyn Inn so even if there's no swell there's still beer!

Anyhoo back to the subject in hand!

Well the cold beer is for in between sessions!

Yea back on subject!
Sorry but if it doesnt have much benefit to those of us that go to events as a group from this forum, then why get mixed up in Associated type rules and regs etc.

We here are not really a Club as such, just a loose group of like minded people that get together on an adhoc basis and so far that works for us.
I'm all for raising our profile and promoting "this place" but it has to be for the good of all.
Or at least jv's view!
